ERP SKILLS BUILDING GROUP
OCD sufferers will have an opportunity to engage in affordable and interactive treatment through our 9-week Exposure Response Prevention group. Each session is two hours long and will be held twice weekly. Participants will be offered a free, 20 – 30 minute phone consultation and are required to participate in a 1.5-hour assessment to determine whether they meet the criteria for the group. Please note that the 1.5 –hour assessment is not included in the cost of the 9-week session. Participants will learn:
- About the OCD cycle and how your OCD functions within the cycle
- To better identify and stop covert compulsions and mental rituals
- To engage with anxiety in a more meaningful, values-driven manner
- Skills to gradually and successfully approach fears through exposure therapy
- To improve communication with loved ones
- To grieve the losses that have occurred as a result of OCD’s impact
- To push through and heal from the stigma associated with OCD
- Relapse prevention skills
Starting March 31: Health Anxiety OCD and/or Contamination OCD Group
Have you:- Become consumed by the COVID – 19 outbreak?
- Noticed that you’re researching/googling the details of the Corona Virus multiple times/ day?
- Avoided social media or television to shield from the bad news of COVID – 19?
- Realized you can’t leave home without special gear like gloves, “outside only” clothing, goggles, or masks?
- Noticed that you’re cleaning more than the CDC’s recommended guidelines?
- Forced your loved ones to overly clean and have they commented that you’re going overboard?
- Excessively socially distanced yourself, including isolated from those important to you?
- Been more worried about contamination or that you will be responsible for loved ones catching COVID – 19?
In this virtual Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) skills group, OCD sufferers & those with health anxiety will learn:
- To appropriately navigate the COVID -19 guidelines while learning about health related anxiety
- How to better identify & manage intrusive thoughts/obsessions related to COVID – 19 & contamination OCD
- To identify and stop overt and covert compulsions, including mental rituals
- To engage with stress and anxiety in a more meaningful, values driven manner
- To improve communication with family and friends as related to your OCD & healthy anxiety
- How to heal from the stigma associated with OCD, health anxiety and learn relapse prevention skills
