Family Group Therapy
Guilt, exhaustion, frustration, helplessness, and feeling overwhelmed are common themes expressed by family members of OCD sufferers. Spouses, siblings, parents, friends, and significant others sometimes feel isolated within these emotions, due to not having an outlet to voice these concerns. Loved ones often believe they are not able to discuss the reality of OCD family dynamics out of fear that others cannot relate and fear of stigma.
OCD Set Free offers an 8-week, therapist-led, therapeutic family support group, which allows loved ones to interact with, get support from and relate to individuals that have shared experiences. Our OCD family support groups explore topics like: OCD basics, self-care & coping techniques, removing guilt & shame, managing conflict, and how to prevent enabling & promote change. These sessions are meant to be a safe environment for loved ones, but also a positive environment that does not villainize those diagnosed with OCD.
Family group sessions have limited availability and are on a first-come, first-served basis. The minimum requirement is 6 participants and the maximum number allowed is 12. Reaching out to us promptly will prevent you from having to be placed on our waiting list for a future session. After every 8-week series there is a 2-week break, and then a new 8-week sequence will begin.
